"FLAME OVER PHILADELPHIA" was the A-side of my third single and was my second most popular song after "Secret Sinema". It was written as a protest against the government of Philadelphia's fire-bombing of the Move commune on May 13, 1985. It is dedicated to freedom for political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, who is incarcerated near where I now live.
